New Le Matchbox subscription from Jouer

There is a new subscription box from the makeup brand Jouer! This is a quarterly box and costs $45, now lets just stop a moment to revive the people who fainted at the $45 price tag….That IS pricey and I had reservations about shelling out the big bucks, but after seeing full spoilers on Instagram I jumped in with both feet!

Jouer wasn’t a company I was very familiar with until recently, they are sold at Nordstrom, Birchbox, their website online and a few boutiques. I picked up their Moisture Matte foundation from Birchbox and fell in love with it, so this box was exciting…but $45 is a lot to spend not knowing what you’ll get. Lucky for us they put out enough early promotion boxes that the word got out! The box has a value over $100 and every product is Full Sized!!

First you take a quick survey asking eye color, skin type and a few other questions to determine if you are cool or warm toned. They are sending variations of the box bases on this, but the product are all the same, just suited to your needs. Up first is the big ticket item that is worth more then the cost of the box!

This is a Full Size either or product depending on your skin type, the Daily Repair Treatment Oil is for those with dry skin and the Daily Clarifying Treatment is for oily skin types. Personally, I love that they didn’t try to give everyone the same facial oil and then some people lose out on the biggest ticket item in the box.  Also being an oil slick kinda gal I really like that they made a formulation that will work for me…I want to be on the face oil bandwagon too!

Value $48

Next is a Full Size Jouer mineral powder blush, the colors will very here too and I love that I won’t end up with a blush better suited for a cool toned gal! The early reviews are that they are very pigmented, but can be sheered or built up depending on your preference. Did you notice the odd sides of the packaging? Jouer products connect to one another, so you can make your own face case! Really cool idea!!

Value $24

The next products are Full Sized for the lips! Not sure how these are distributed though out the boxes, other then the colors will go along with your undertones.  I’m hoping for the lip gloss, but will be happy to try out the lipstick too.

Value $24 for the lipstick and $22 for the gloss

This Full Sized Creme Eyeshadow Crayon comes in 5 colors on Jouers website, but I’ve only seen black in the early boxes. I would be happy to have black to use as an eye shadow base or a easy smoky eye look.

Value $24

Jouer Travel Eyelash Curler

This item is a travel sized eyelash curler and I couldn’t find it for sale on the Jouer website. The design looks interesting and I love having travel sized items. While I don’t normally need to curl my lashes, I’m excited to try this out.

Value $???

There is also a bonus sample sized Parfume Oil being included!

Over all the value on this box is at least $120! All the products are ones I’m excited to try and they fact that they are tailored to my skin type and tone is what most boxes do wrong. I mean why have me take a survey if none of that information determines the products I will receive?!?!?! Hello are you listening Glossybox, BoxyCharm and Ipsy??? This could be a nice long term relationship….

This sold out once, but is back in stock…run girls run!

Glossybox September 2014 Collaboration with Harper’s Bazaar Full List of Spoilers

Glossybox September 2014 Collaboration with Harper’s Bazzar!

This months Glossybox is a collaboration with Harper’s Bazaar! I find most of their collaborations to be fantastic, although none will ever beat the Bergdorf collaboration. To be clear, this is the regular September box and not an additional for purchase box, so every subscriber will be enjoying this. They are placing a value of $60 on this box, here’s the breakdown:

OCC  Lip Tar (Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics)

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics - Lip Tar - MetallicBlack DaliaObsessive Compulsive Cosmetics - Lip Tar - MetallicAuthentic

This first one is what I’m most excited to get, I own a few of these and they are really different from your normal lip product. They are like a stain in there lasting ability, but you can easily mix them to create custom shades. The options are Black Dalia (a gorgeous berry red) or Authentic (a orange shimmer that’s wearable).  They are each FULL SIZED!!! .33oz with a value of  $18! This makes the box for me, so happy to get one of these!!

Vichy Liftactiv Night

LiftActiv DayDay CreamLiftActiv NightNight Cream

So I had a little trouble finding the item pictured in the spoiler photo, it’s a white jar and all the Vichy night creams are blue?!?! Maybe the sample is just provided in a white jar? I’m not 100% sure what to think…ether way the creams run $50 for 1.7 oz and claim to combat the signs of skin aging by visibly reducing the appearance of wrinkles & helping to boost skin’s firmness. The size in the box is 0.51 oz with a value of $14.70.

Benefit, they’re real! Mascara

Benefit Cosmetics - They're Real! Mascara

Not this old thing again! Well for those of you who love it this maybe an exciting item, but for me I’ve received too many of these to care. The formula isn’t my favorite (some people love it), I find it dry, the wand to be blah and most importantly my lashes don’t look anywhere fake or good for that matter. I have tried the full sized and the sample size, both yielded the same lack luster lashes. The size will be 0.1 oz with a value of $7.66.

Essie She’s Pampered or Essie Madison Ave-Hue

essie® Nail Color - Winter TrendsShe’s Pampered    madison ave hue - pinks by essie Madison Ave-Hue

This is the other FULL SIZED product!! The colors a both wearable and the brand is one I enjoy, double score, I think She’s Pampered is my favorite of the two. Nice to see this brand and pricing runs $8.50 per 0.5 oz polish.

Bvlgari Eau Parfume eau thé vert Conditioner or Bvlgari Eau Parfume eau thé blanc Conditioner

This will be the second month in a row I’ve received conditioner, but at least last month we also received the shampoo. I know Glossybox likes to send out this brand, but this item looks like it’s been discontinued! The same thing happened with a Bvlgari parfume in October or November  of last year. The only place selling this is amazon…$6.66 2.53 fl oz.

Overall I’m excited to get this box, the lip tar and polish are A+ for me. As far as the face cream, I’ve tried the brand and wasn’t overly impressed, although I really enjoy La Roche Posay (a sister brand to Vichy) so I’ll give it a shot. The mascara and conditioner are going to be re-gifted to a friend who will like them more. The total value for this box is $55.52 with most of the value being in the products I like!

Ipsy Glam Bag May 2014

“It’s Ipsy bag time”, as my favorite youtuber stilakiss33 would say! Well this months bag is a super cute canvas bag with a green leaf pattern and green zipper. I think this is the first canvas bag I’ve received from them, so the change is nice. Now on to the products in the bag:

Therapy Session Hair Mask 60 mL

First up was a hair mask from Eva.Nye, a brand I’ve never heard of. The packaging is bright and springish, but the smell, oh dear god the smell! One of the girls on MUT (makeuptalk.com) said it smelled like “bad breath” and she’s kinda right. I don’t know if I want to use this and have to smell my hair all day. Full size 2.03oz value $12 (-$200 for the smell)

Up next was a sunscreen from Hang Ten with SPF 50. I remember this brand being cool when I was a kid, I really love the colorful packaging and the cute feet. This product adsorbed quickly and has a light tropical fragrance. Over all I will use this, but it’s not really exciting.  Full size 3.4 oz  $12.99, I received a deluxe sample 1 oz valued at $3.85.

I also received a Pacifica eyeshadow duo #1, a light champagne and golden bronze color. I’ll be honest I didn’t open this, I have so many shadows in these colors I know it would just sit and not be used. I was curious about the quality and formula, so I searched and found most people found it to be chalky with little color payoff and the lid breaks off very easily.  I was planning on gifting it, but who do I dislike enough to give a chalky/cheap eyeshadow??? It looks like this was made exclusivity for Ipsy, so as far as value goes…a full size shadow sells for $14.

Again I received a microdermabrasion product, last month I received the Dr. Brant’s one. Come on Ipsy mix it up a bit!! Could it be a dupe for the Dr. Brant? It is in very different packaging, but the size of the exfoliatior beads and the smell is the exact same. I will be doing a side by side later this week to verfi this and will update this post.  Full size is 2 oz and $32, I received  1 oz valued at $16.

Last but not least was the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Elusive. I was really hoping to get this, I have a few of the Colorburst Stains and love em. Unfortunately this color really washed me out, I had a “under the weather” kind of look. Not Cute! The product it’s self was nice, creamy application that dried down to a soft matte finish. I would purchase another color from this line and think Revlon makes very nice lip crayons.  Full sized $6.50.

I was less then impressed by the contents of my bag, sorry to  be a Debbie Downer. In fact I almost didn’t blog this bag, if you don’t have something nice to say….well here I’ll just said it. I still love my Ipsy subscription and for $10 a month it’s totally worth it. I will say out of all the bags I’ve gotten this was my first boo bag, they really do a great job…most of the time! The total value of my bag was $52.35, but for me the value is just $17. $16 for the scrub and $1 for the sunscreen (that’s what I’d pay for a tube of Coppertone) plus the bags value.
