Jouer puts out a limited edition Mother’s Day Box!

Jouer has a LE Mother’s Day Box for all those wonderful mothers out there! Will you be getting one for your mom…or yourself??? Check it out here!

New Le Matchbox subscription from Jouer

There is a new subscription box from the makeup brand Jouer! This is a quarterly box and costs $45, now lets just stop a moment to revive the people who fainted at the $45 price tag….That IS pricey and I had reservations about shelling out the big bucks, but after seeing full spoilers on Instagram I jumped in with both feet!

Jouer wasn’t a company I was very familiar with until recently, they are sold at Nordstrom, Birchbox, their website online and a few boutiques. I picked up their Moisture Matte foundation from Birchbox and fell in love with it, so this box was exciting…but $45 is a lot to spend not knowing what you’ll get. Lucky for us they put out enough early promotion boxes that the word got out! The box has a value over $100 and every product is Full Sized!!

First you take a quick survey asking eye color, skin type and a few other questions to determine if you are cool or warm toned. They are sending variations of the box bases on this, but the product are all the same, just suited to your needs. Up first is the big ticket item that is worth more then the cost of the box!

This is a Full Size either or product depending on your skin type, the Daily Repair Treatment Oil is for those with dry skin and the Daily Clarifying Treatment is for oily skin types. Personally, I love that they didn’t try to give everyone the same facial oil and then some people lose out on the biggest ticket item in the box.  Also being an oil slick kinda gal I really like that they made a formulation that will work for me…I want to be on the face oil bandwagon too!

Value $48

Next is a Full Size Jouer mineral powder blush, the colors will very here too and I love that I won’t end up with a blush better suited for a cool toned gal! The early reviews are that they are very pigmented, but can be sheered or built up depending on your preference. Did you notice the odd sides of the packaging? Jouer products connect to one another, so you can make your own face case! Really cool idea!!

Value $24

The next products are Full Sized for the lips! Not sure how these are distributed though out the boxes, other then the colors will go along with your undertones.  I’m hoping for the lip gloss, but will be happy to try out the lipstick too.

Value $24 for the lipstick and $22 for the gloss

This Full Sized Creme Eyeshadow Crayon comes in 5 colors on Jouers website, but I’ve only seen black in the early boxes. I would be happy to have black to use as an eye shadow base or a easy smoky eye look.

Value $24

Jouer Travel Eyelash Curler

This item is a travel sized eyelash curler and I couldn’t find it for sale on the Jouer website. The design looks interesting and I love having travel sized items. While I don’t normally need to curl my lashes, I’m excited to try this out.

Value $???

There is also a bonus sample sized Parfume Oil being included!

Over all the value on this box is at least $120! All the products are ones I’m excited to try and they fact that they are tailored to my skin type and tone is what most boxes do wrong. I mean why have me take a survey if none of that information determines the products I will receive?!?!?! Hello are you listening Glossybox, BoxyCharm and Ipsy??? This could be a nice long term relationship….

This sold out once, but is back in stock…run girls run!

Birchbox February 2015

Birchbox has quickly become my favorite beauty box, edging out others because of the price and awesome rewards program. The fact that I can choose to pick a curated box , pick a sample, or choose to be surprised really makes it extra fun. Also, I’m totally kind of a control freak, so I love the options and knowing I will love at least one thing. I do find myself choosing the curated boxes more often then not.

This month was no different, I picked the Rent the Runway box. There were other pick your sample choices that I wanted too, but I was interested in trying everything in the curated box. It included:

The Balm Read My Lips Gloss in Bam

theBalm® cosmetics Read My Lips™ Lip Gloss - Bam - rose-pink

The fact I’ve never tried a lip gloss from The Balm and that I’m a gloss junkie made this super exciting. The full size is $15 and .3 oz, my sample is .08 oz and worth $4.

Fekkai Blowout Dry Shampoo

Fekkai Blowout Hair Refresher Dry Shampoo – 1.7 fl. oz.

I’m always up for a product that makes my hair last an extra day. I was on second day hair when my box arrived, so I quickly busted this one out. It worked well on my dark hair and didn’t leave any white cast, it also smelled very fresh. Not sure it will replace my HG Batiste for brown hair, but I think it will give it a run for it’s money. I received a Full Sized Travel Size at 1.7 oz with a value of $10.

DermaE Anti-Wrinkle Exfoliating Cleanser

derma e® Anti-Wrinkle Vitamin A Glycolic Scrub - new

I’ve tried a scrub from this line before and it was great, so I really wanted to try this too. Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I highly doubt you can get anti-wrinkle effects from a cleanser…you leave it on for less then a minute and wash it down the drain. That said, I am happy to try another product from DermaE. The full size is $12.75 for 4 oz, my sample is 1 oz and worth $3.18.

Not Soap, Radio Body Wash in The stuff that Cupid dips his arrow in (because sometimes fate needs a assists).

Not Soap, Radio Body Wash - cupid

This product has the longest, cutest name in the history of body wash. That mouthful didn’t draw me in (it’s is cute and all), but the Blackberry and Vanilla description sounded fantastic and it is! Yummo! I just want to keep sniffing myself…but that’s just weird. The full size is $16 for 13.61 oz, my sample is 1.5 oz and worth $2.64.

Sumita Eyeliner in Raina

Sumita Color Contrast Eyeliner Exclusive Set

I’ve received these a few times from other subscriptions and while they won’t replace my favorite eyeliners, they are good enough quality for me to gift them to friends or family. This was sent out in multiple colors, but I received a basic black. I know sometimes boxes get a lot of hate about basic black liners, black is such a staple in peoples routine that it’s understandable.  The full size is $11 and .06 oz, my sample is .024oz and worth $4.40.

*update: After closer inspection I received Raina, which is a dark navy blue.

The last thing in my box was a coupon for Rent the Runway, $30 off order of $75.  Rent the Runway is an online service that provides designer dress and accessory rentals. The dress prices run from $40 to $800 and accessories run $5 to $400. I doubt I’ll ever use this, I prefer to try things on and shop at a discount, so $45 to use something once doesn’t appeal to me. If you’d like the code just comment below, first one who does gets it.

Over all this was a winner and I’m happy with every single sample!! Couple that with the 50 points I will get for the Birchbox store and this is why I love me some Birchbox.  My box is valued at $24.22 without any value placed on the coupon, along with that the 50 points = $5 in the Birchbox store. The real value is I will use everything in this box, yay!

Birchbox October 2014

Birchbox October 2014

Well Birchbox did it again, with just one product my box value was more then 2x what I paid! This month’s pick-your-sample had a choice of a full sized Mally Beauty High-Shine Liquid Lipstick, a Model CO Party Proof lipstick or a sadly small Lord and Berry black eyeliner (yawn). I chose the full sized Mally Liquid Lipstick, a $20 value!!  Everything after that was all gravy baby!

I picked Mally in Petal to the Metal. I am in love with the packaging, it’s your typical twist up/click type design, but the quality of the casing is outstanding. This is close to the Stila brand price point, but Stila could learn a thing or two from Mally design department! One negitave is that these Mally colors seem to be discontinued, I couldn’t find them in Birchbox store or in-store at Ulta. So I hope I don’t love it too much or I’ll be scouting ebay for backups.

dr. brandt® pores no more® vacuum cleaner™

This is the second month I’ve received a product from Dr. Brandt, and that’s fine by me! I’m always excited to try high end brands in hopes of finding a really great product. I will rarely spend $$$ in hopes of a good product, I have no problem with the price, but it has to work. This is part of the Pores No More line and it’s a mask with the cutest name, Vacuum Cleaner. This is the 4rd product I have tried from this line and honestly I don’t see any difference in the size of my pores or removal of clogs. I was happy to try it and love that these types brands are working with Birchbox.

ModelCo Power Lash Long Wear Black Mascara

Mascara samples will never raise my heart rate, but I will try it and may find a new Holy Grail product…in 4 or 5 months. Yep, that’s how much mascara and mascara samples I have to work though. As far a this brand, I could take it or leave it. Model Co is an Australian brand that seems to be trying to break into the US market via subscription services. I have yet to see it in-store and with pricing in that range I’d like to see a large company be willing to back/promote them.

Essentiel Elements Wake Up Rosemary Shower Gel

Oh good god! Do you want to smell like a jar of Vicks Vaper Rub?? Then this shower gel is for you or your cold. I don’t plan to use this, unless I have a raging head cold and need relief. No, just no…

Harvey Prince Petaly Noir – 50 ml

Here’s another fragrance from Birchbox. I’m on the only 6 fragrance samples per year, so I hope the next few months won’t have any. Harvey Prince is a pricey brand and someone may like this Petaly Noir scent, but it’s a no go for me.

Even with a mascara sample and 2 awful smelling products this box was really good for me. I haven’t tried the Mally’s lippie, it’s so nice I may gift it. I’m loving this sub and the points they give you for reviewing and you can spend in their online store are icing on the cake!
